The Situation
You've accomplished a great deal already. The next step is not always obvious.
At this level, the challenges grow quieter and more interior. Decisions carry more weight because they are yours to make and yours to carry. You are the one holding everyone else steady, while underneath it all your own nervous system keeps its own counsel, setting the temperature of a room before you've said a word.
The hardest stretches ask the most of you, and they are often where the most happens. The ground keeps shifting, the technology faster than the rest, and the people around you feel where you are before you say much at all. Seeing clearly what is in front of you matters, and so does presence. When you can stay at home in your own body, calm in the room can begin with you.
What shapes how you meet all of this is older than any title you've held. It runs beneath the strategy and the decisions, in the part of you that was formed long before any of this, and that is the part that can move.
Valerie Abra Rosenfield has been a psychotherapist for 25 years. In that time she has worked with people carrying consequential weight: founders, owners, CEOs, VPs, managers, nonprofit executives, elected officials, creative professionals, artists, authors, lawyers, journalists, medical professionals, and other high-impact leaders all making decisions that reach far beyond themselves. Through that long practice she came to understand where leadership actually lives. The patterns that shape how a person leads form in the body, in the nervous system, long before anyone steps into a title. They move beneath strategy, and they hold steady until they are met directly.
When her clients began asking to think through their professional lives with her, she recognized that years of learning about how people change had prepared her for exactly this.
Her coaching draws on Internal Family Systems, somatic awareness, vagus nerve regulation, and applied neuroscience. It draws equally on more than two decades of Iyengar yoga practice and study of Vedic philosophy, traditions that have examined the relationship between self-knowledge and purposeful action for thousands of years. She brings all of it to the specific, present challenges her clients bring.
Valerie offers coaching that is direct, forward-looking, and grounded in a deep understanding of how people actually change.

What Changes?
Leaders who work with Valerie describe a different quality of thinking under pressure. More deliberate decisions. A steadier presence in the room. Team dynamics that shift because the leader has shifted. The capacity to make hard calls with clarity and confidence. A more conscious relationship to where their energy goes, and why.
"I now show up as a more positive and stable leader, and the morale of my team has measurably improved. Rather than fixating on my imperfections, I have learned ways to calm and clarify my thinking so that I can empower others. She coached me through some of the most difficult decisions I've had to make for the company, and for myself, teaching me how to handle these situations with compassion and candor." — Roya Amini-Naieni, CEO and Co-Founder, Trilobio
“Valerie is an incredible Executive Coach. Her work with me has altered the trajectory of Trilobio for the better. I now show up as a more positive and stable leader, and the morale of my team has measurably improved because of that. Rather than fixating on my imperfections, I have learned ways to calm and clarify my thinking, so that I can empower others. She has truly changed my life and helped me turn Trilobio into a healthy workplace with high employee retention. She coached me through some of the most difficult decisions I’ve had to make for the company, and for myself, teaching me how to handle these situations with compassion and candor. Good executive coaches are extremely hard to find. I am so grateful I found Valerie, and any leader would be lucky to partner with her. She is particularly helpful for passionate, hardworking, and perfectionist founders looking to lead with compassion, while having the courage to make hard decisions.”
“The noise that most limits a leader isn’t auditory, it’s internal. It’s the reactive patterns, the fractured attention, the perseveration that separates us from inner knowing and our trust in others.
I’ve spent my career studying this, and I’ve coached enough leaders to know how rare it is to find someone who can work at that level. Valerie is that rare practitioner.
I’ve watched her work up close, in the room, with leaders carrying unimaginable weight - a leader steadying a team through uncertain times, a founder whose old way of leading no longer serves the company she built. What I witnessed wasn’t cookie-cutter advice about communication or decision-making. It was the work underneath, attending to the nervous system itself, to where attention and energy were quietly leaking, until a presence that had been unavailable under pressure became reliably theirs to generate and lead from.
That is the deepest work there is. Valerie does it with uncommon precision, steadiness, and care.”
“Working with Valerie has been one of the most impactful investments I’ve made in my growth as a leader. She brings together a rare combination of deep psychological expertise and strategic business insight, allowing her to understand both the human and organizational dynamics that influence leadership effectiveness. Through thoughtful questions, meaningful challenge, and practical guidance, she helped me uncover blind spots, strengthen my confidence, and navigate complex decisions with greater clarity and purpose.
Few coaches possess both the clinical depth and seasoned business judgment to facilitate meaningful personal growth while driving tangible leadership results. I highly recommend Valerie to any leader seeking to elevate their impact, lead more authentically, and achieve lasting professional and personal growth.”
“Have you seen The Matrix? The movie from 1999? After talking to you I feel like I just met the oracle, I already feel better.”
“Walk toward the monster (the pain, the scary thing, the grief). ”
“Every company is a manifestation of the strengths and weaknesses of its leaders. As a company leader, it’s not just important, it’s absolutely critical that we constantly examine our own limitations and unconscious patterns, work to heal and release those limitations, and show up with the one-of-a-kind package of skills we have worked a lifetime to build. None of us, regardless of what we’ve accomplished in our careers, have absolute, perfect self-awareness. As an executive of multiple companies and a leadership coach, I can tell you that constantly questioning and polishing your own self-awareness is a leadership superpower. I can also tell you that leadership is incredibly lonely, and no truly wise leader tries to do it on their own.
Valerie has three unique, powerful, almost mystical skills that will serve anyone who wants to raise their game in a senior leadership role. First, she has stunningly sharp skills of observation and gives her clients her uncompromising attention. She knows what I’m doing before I do. Secondly, she can change your understanding of your story, your self-awareness “holes”, and your actions with just a few brilliantly placed words. Or more accurately, a simple brilliantly placed question. Her simple questions will knock you over right when you’re ready for it. And third, she sees, somehow, instinctively, immediately, what your real value is in the world, and without judgement, she reminds you. And she can do it all with the grace and skill of a true master coach, because she’s done the work. She’s doing the work. And she shows up with her one-of-a-kind package of skills she has worked a lifetime to build.”
“Finding a sounding board who truly understands the unique weight of leadership is rare; finding someone who can walk alongside you through the intersecting fires of social-spiritual activism, community conflict, and personal evolution is a gift. For over twenty years, Valerie has been that indispensable force in my life and work. I call upon her wisdom in areas and at times that feel right. Valerie has become a part of the fabric of what I feel is the tapestry that makes community leaders feel held and valued.
Valerie doesn’t just offer abstract advice. She meets you in the trenches as an accomplice on the path. Her approach is beautifully disarming and completely devoid of sugar-coating. Through her attentive, instructive, and attachment-based dialogue, she has helped me cut through the noise, clarify my deepest thinking, and confront the upper-limit beliefs that were holding me back from the next level of my work.
Valerie has been integral to my leadership development, guiding me through periods of organizational uncertainty and crisis. Her unique capacity to meet me at the exact intersection of reality and growth allowed me to make critical, high-stakes decisions that ultimately empowered me, my community, and my clients. Her capacity for culturally sensitive, trauma-informed coaching allowed me to finally break through mammoth, long-standing emotional blocks.
If you are a leader navigating complex landscapes and looking to expand your capacity, break through internal ceilings, and ground your practice in deep evolutionary truth, Valerie is the guide you want by your side. Thank you, Valerie!”
“I have known Ms. Rosenfield for the past 23 years. She has been a colleague, as well as a critical support in my work as a non-profit executive in the Bay Area for the past decade plus years. Valerie has a unique understanding of organizational function, leadership challenges especially during times of turbulence and change, and how to merge one’s identity as a leader with the unique challenges of today. She is a unicorn. I highly recommend her, and know that you will only benefit from her unfailing support and guidance. ”
